Dream crewing destinations

If you are doing a delivery job or a paid sailing job than, as with nearly everything in life, there are the exciting assignments and the mundane jobs. Of course every new place you visit on a crewing job is potentially full of interest, but for many there are a few dream destinations. This post will look briefly at some of these destinations.

The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos islands belong to Equator. There are strict rules on charter hire for the Galapagos Islands because they are protected marine reserves. People pay lots of money to get to the Galapagos Islands and to do boat tours. If you can get a job going to the Galapagos you won't be disappointed. There are 18 main islands to explore. Few places on Earth have such a variety and profusion of wildlife to see. Marine iguanas, Española lava lizards, hood mockingbirdss, swallow-tailed gulls, blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, red-billed tropicbirds, Galápagos hawks and the waved albatross are just some of the animals to spot. And of course the Galapagos Islands are the scene of the epoch changing observations made by one Charles Darwin.

The Bahamas

The standard wisdom is that the Bahamas job scene comes alive in the cold winter months when people from New England and elsewhere want to escape the bad weather at home. There is, however, work to be had in the Bahamas in the summer. Paradise remains paradise no matter what time of the year it is (except for the hurricane season). The Bahamas is the ultimate in island life - pristine Caribbean beaches, world class diving and snorkeling and great night life. If you get a charter to the Bahamas you might not end up bringing any of your salary home!

The Whitsunday Islands

Off the coast of Central Queensland is a collection of islands near the Great Barrier Reef. They are simply beautiful islands with an unbeatable profusion of marine life. There are some spectacular coral and some perfect spots for anchorage such as Macona and Nara. The Whitsunday Islands are also fishing heaven. The 1,000 pound Black Marlin is found in these waters.

This is the play ground for the rich. The 15 mile long "emerald coast" is stunningly beautiful. Here you will see luxury hotels and multi million dollar villas. The Maddalena Islands are just off the north coast of Sardinia. Corsica is just a cruise away. The whole area has lots of great beaches. And of course there are lots of old historic ports to visit and lots of fantastic food to try.

Lots of people want to get a job on a yacht exploring the Andaman Sea and The Gulf of Thailand. The Land of Smiles is the perfect place to island hop. The beaches are beautiful, the prices are cheap, the hospitality of the locals legendary and of course the food is delicious. Thailand is a popular dive destination - highlights include the Andaman Isles, Sail Rock and Ang Thong National Marine Park. And who knows maybe the owner will want to attend the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin beach in Koh Phangan.
